Re: 1969 G van Windshield glass?
How about a follow up?
I already have a replacement windshield and gasket for my '67 (should be the same as a '69).
Anyway, I could use a refresher on the best way to pull the old windshield intact and install the new own. I'd like to do this as a one-man ooperation, if possible.
Would those strong metal backed suction cups be helpful in maneuvering the glass? I suppose I could get some at a glass store.
Reason for replacement: the existing windshield isn't cracked but it does have a dings in it (and a minor ding/crack). Mostly it's because the rain leaks in and the only place it can be getting in is through rust holes (unseen as yet) behind the windshield gasket. So I'll be taking it off one day, addressing any rust/penetration issues I might find, and then replacing the windshield on another day.

Re: 1969 G van Windshield glass?
This is how you use a rope to jump the gasket over and in to the frame, so IF the gasket is soft,,,,,you just bend the gasket back over the frame towards the glass and GENTLY and SLOWLY push the gasket and glass out a little at a time all around the frame,,,,,and the glass also needs to feel like being pushed around so it does not crack,,,,,,
