Re: Ethanol in classic car engines
I have experienced 1st hand the damage that ethanhol does to the carberator & gas tank. It is also 10 times worse on 2 cycle engines!!! One winter with gas with ethanhol in it sitting in a 2 cycle engine can ruin most all of the gaskets & deteriorate the primer bulb. I run 100 % pure gas in all of my 2 cycle power equipment & lawn mowers. I try to run 100 % pure gas in my vehicles to but there is only one gas station in my area that sells it so sometimes I have to run gas with the 10percent ethanhol mix in it. if 10% ethanhol does this kinda damage after sitting for a brief period of time just imagine what 100% ethanhol would do!!!

Re: Ethanol in classic car engines
I concur handivan, Ethanhol gas has a short shelf life something around 60 days. Last winter well working out of town, I had to stop and buy gas from a small gas station that doesnt do much business in the winter and and my truck almost didnt make it home. In the summer My carberatored 350 runs like shit on it. It's worth finding real gas.

Re: Ethanol in classic car engines
Yes it is well worth finding real 100% gas & your vehicle or whatever you run it in runs better, has more house power & gets better gas mileage. In the long run the extra 20 or 30 contact a gallon you will pay for the 100% pure gas will pay for its self 10 times over!!!

Re: Ethanol in classic car engines
Being where I live you can get "Boat" fuel at many of the stations here which is just basically "Real Fuel" (Ethanol Free). It costs a bit more but I get much better mileage and performance when I use it. I kept track for about three months and in the end It cost about the same per mile. Using the Ethanol Free kept the engine clean and damage free with far greater power!!!

Re: Ethanol in classic car engines
No problem, it was a link I found a little while ago when researching the same ethanol woes. Glad it can help!
