The big 5 0 is coming for the Chevy van ! Not sure if GM has anything planned for this. Unfortunately Ford dropped the ball on us last year for their 50th of the Econo, but vanners made the best of that at events like the Ford Nationals at Carlisle and National Truck-In.
It would be nice to do something with Chevrolet but getting through to their marketing people is pretty tough especially for a guy from Canada who keeps getting referred to Canadian Marketing and getting nowhere. Even the marketing suits at the GM booth at the Detroit Autorama had no clue where to address this.
There are some amazing early Chevy vans being built right now like the Tilt Chevy and #9. There are some very nice mid Chevies being redone and we've even had an offer to build a radical Chevy Express if the van were donated.
I've started a page on Facebook for this : https://www.facebook.com/ChevyVan50thAnniversary to see if we can get something going with all years of Chevy van owners. Feel free to post your van there.
What are your thoughts on the 50th ? This will be a joint effort for the benefit of vanning. If there is someone who has a contact at GM marketing who can help with this that would be great. I have a good bunch of stuff I can send them about vanning and will do a special Chevy section on Showvans for this as well.
