Headers
Headers look cool but are not a good idea on a v-8
van. They cause extreme over heating problems. The
best solution is the Corvette ram's horn manifolds.
They flow great and are cheap. Speedway Motors has
them for $114.99 P/N 930-0328 Oh they even have they
correct cast-in alt. mounts.
speedwaymotors.com 800-979-0122 they are good people!
PS headers can also cause problems with your starter!

Re: ext headers question
I have a set of long headers on my 69 GMC Handi Van & have no problems with over heating. I drove my van all summer long last year in 100 degree temps & it stayed at 190 degrees which is the Degree of thermostat that I have. Never any problems with my starter either.

Yeah I'm going to completely disagree with that too. Starter issues, yes depending on your starter and headers. If you use a stock starter you cannot clock or generic headers that are too close then of course it will heat up.
My '66 had Black Jack long tubes and a stock starter and I never overheated or had starter issues. Just ask Ravenruss! How's that old heap doing Russ!?
