Tail light assembly socket Empty Tail light assembly socket

Post by Guest Sat Feb 25, 2012 6:30 pm

    Hi,
I Got another electrical question, my rear tail light socket one of the contacts is worn off. I removed the tail light and wires but the round tail light assembly will not come off to replace the socket. Is it spot welded or just rusted on?
    Thanks rally

dunno about removing the socket but alot of the contacts were nothing more than a hollow brass rivet soldered onto the end of the wire with a dome of solder for the contact surface. ususally the wire can be pushed through from the back of the socket enough to redo the rivit/solder

I have actually bought some replacement contacts from auto parts =remove the old ones & reinstall new - even had a tab to index the contacte into socket with spring on end. Actually I may have some here in my stash!!
