The 1961-63 axle and king pins are different from the 1964-1967 axle and king pins. I do not know about the tie rods.

The entire axle assembly should swap out to any 1961-1967 econoline.

Thats what i needed to know... I found a local complete front Axel assembly drum to drum and I was going to clean, paint and convert to disk and slap it in.

The spindles and pins are a little different but everything else is the same. The early ones grease from the middle and have rubber seals and the later grease from the top and bottom.
Keep in mind that if you go to disc you will need to convert to a dual master cylinder and proportioning valve. If you can find a stock master cylinder (late 66-67) you will need to remove the check valve to the disc or they will lock and not release. If you can't find a stock cylinder there is someone on one of these sites that sells a kit or has plans to install a newer style cylinder with minimum mods to the stock mounting bracket.

As 66ThunderVan has stated, all the axles are exactly the same. Its the spindles and king pins that are different. The spindle arm itself is also different. There is a difference in arm height also but I forget which is which.

ALL the axles themselves are the same (same casting number) and both the left and right spindles are identical for each of the earlies or each of the lates to each other also. The 61 to 63's with a longer king pin, and each bushing greased by a single zirc in each end of the spindle. The lates (64 to 67) have a zirc on each end that screws into a separate fitting that screws into the top and the bottom of the spindle. There are no over sized king pins available for the lates, however you can make an over sized (.010 over) out of an early pin, and cutting an additional groove into the early bushing to allow the grease to now enter through the late zircs. Like I said the spindles are the same from left to right, with the steering arms interchangeable. (if you can get them out?)LOL
Using the different height steering arms is a real good way of controlling the bump steer geometry, as the height of THAT ball joint is what directly affects bump steer. Pg 88 "HOW TO MAKE YOUR CAR HANDLE" HP BOOKS, BY Fred Puhn. EXCELLENT REFERENCE FOR DISC BRAKE FORMULAS AND HANDLING TIPS.
THE DUAL MASTER is ONLY available in 67 and not in 66. ONE YEAR ONLY. The same with the one year only matching offset brake pedal and matching eccentric bolt. Of which I have re sleeved and rebuilt.

That is very interesting info. It seems, as I stated in another post, every time I think I know my Fords I find out something new. Thanks much Old Skool!
Which spindle has the best bump steer and what are the differences in the brake pedal and where is the eccentric bolt?

The eccentric bolt goes thru the brake light switch, pedal, and master cylinder pushrod and has an offset shoulder. It and the 67 pedal are different than the 61-66. I'm sure Vic will post more of his great pics that help explain it better.
