I've been collecting supervans for a long time. I ran shorties for a long time before I got my first Supervan, but they grow on you. They are great for traction with all that extra weight over the rear axle not to mention the extra space.

Congratulations Chris, I was eyeing that one last spring when it disappeared. I guess you found it in NC huh?

I had a chance to buy that van about 5 years ago and then about a year ago. One of my employees lived around the street from the guy in Portsmouth. I was never interested in the Supervans too much so I didn't act on it. Congrats on saving another one.

The first 1st generation van I ever rode in was down in Valdese, N.C. I was on summer vacation at a cousins house and he worked part time at the store where my uncle did TV repairs. My cousin and I were 16 and he and I would take the van out to pick up TV's and bring them back the store for repairs and deliver repaired units. It was a Supervan. It was a neat ride. Man, if I could go back to those days. Life was easy and I didn't even know it.

Great to see that another old Econoline was saved. Have fun with the restoration.

Obviously there are a lot of 1st generation owners in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. We need to get together and talk about a possible show this summer of old vans and pickups. What do you say?

To me a show does not necessarily mean that the cars and trucks have to be restored. They can be a work in progress, almost finished or totally restored. Thats whats so neat about "real" car shows. Anyway, we really need to get together like you suggested and talk about Econolines. Its great to know there are other 1st gen. owners in the hampton Roads area. My e-mail is twday77@gmail.com or call me at 757-291-6247.

The title I got was issued in 1976, here in Va. Because it was not transfered to Nc., I don't have to go through the notary BS.
