Re: Wiring Diagram 66 G10
wideload awesome link....my mind works better in color..
took a few hours this morning and pulled an unmolested wiring harness out of the 65...complete front light wiring harness, rear light wiring harness and dash harness complete, the harness that goes to the doghouse up until the doghouse connector, past the connector was hacked and missing..
gonna call a few places to see if they can replicate the harness with new wires and an updated fuse panel..

Nice find, Whopman! I like that they sell the connectors and terminals in a set like that. I added that link to our "G" Parts page.
I still need to make the final wiring for my doghouse after ditching the external voltage regulator. Right now it's a bit of a frankenstein from a newer loom I pulled from the junkyard. A while back I stocked up on this type of connectors from this company:
http://order.waytekwire.com/products/M50/320/550/350/1
The name of this type of connectors and terminals GM used is Packard 56 Series. They let you specify any quantity you want of each individual piece. I think it's great that we can get these brand new for that factory look! I hate seeing those cheap blue, red, and yellow crimp terminals that all auto parts stores sell! I also ordered a few Packard 59's which are bigger and are used on the headlight connectors.
They make a ratcheting crimping tool that does both the electrical crimp and the strain relief in one shot. They are over $100 - $200 new! I found a used one at a surplus electronics store and tested it (photo below). It worked so well that the store's owner decided to keep it for himself!!
It didn't do the best crimp on the insulation though. I discovered I had this cheaper crimper in my toolbox that can do this but in two steps. The key is that the tool has that "butt" shaped part to curl the metal into the wire. Then I can use the bigger one to do the same curled crimp on the insulation.
I've read that the male conductor is made of thicker metal and a better crimper than mine is needed. Some good info about crimpers on the Chevelles.com site:

Whoa!! Here we go! American Autowire has a great video showing the correct way to make these crimps. And they have a tool rental program so you can really do it right:
