I hear that the 61-67 E van fuel tanks are not reproduced, is this true? If so, does anybody know where I can get a ready-to-go used one for my 64 Travel wagon?

Not trying to hijack your thread, but do the mustang tanks need any modification to them?

yes they do need modifications. The fill tube is in the wrong place.

Here's a link to Fred Carello's photo album that shows how to modify a 69 Mustang tank to work in an Econoline. You'll need your old tank for the vent tube and fill tube.
Fred's gastank conversion.
Look around in Fred's photo Albums. He has some cool stuff in here.

Re: Fuel Tank 64 Travel Wagon
I saw the 69 mustang tank project. Are there any other tanks that fit? This 69 tank looks deeper, there is no issue with clearance?

Re: Fuel Tank 64 Travel Wagon
No issues with clearance and look stock from behind ... just have to put longer tanks straps on it and don't try to tuck the forward lip of the tank into the forward cross member like the old tank ... it fits underneath ... cheapest place for the tank for me was Kentucky Mustang. Had a made in Taiwan sender unit that leaked gas and drove me nuts ... until I figured out it was missing a gaske about the size of the tip of your baby finger around the sender unit bolt ...
Good luck

Re: Fuel Tank 64 Travel Wagon
CAUTION!! HERE!! Has anyone had any experience @ home doing any gas tank welding?????? Best taken to a welding shop or radiator shop to have done !! Explosion Hazzard!! Even when empty. Good welders know & will introduce argon gas into the tanks when done so explosion hazzards are reduced greatly!! Please be cautious & if you attempt?? Have the life insurance paid up !! The wife will need it!!!!!!!!!!!! we've lose enough members here =dont need any more !!

Re: Fuel Tank 64 Travel Wagon
The idea here is to use a new reproduction Mustang tank before it has ever had gas in it. No chance for an explosion then.
