I have been playing around with the idea of using 3 cables(push/pull like a boat cable) in stead of rods to shift the tranny. I have a t10 with the correct tailshaft with the built in hanger and would love to use it. Please when you get a minute snap a shot of how they did it. As for 5 speed, I was thinking a shifter out of a 84-89 toyota van(cable shifted) just can't find one in ajunk yard to take a look at? Bob

    Bob check this link...

It's all about the cable shifter set up the GT40 guys are using. I'm not too keen on the idea. I tend to be pretty rough on cars with manual transmissions.

I've had my heart set on the RS5 from Keisler, but it's a top loader and the location would make it much more complicated. I've heard a Richmond 5-speed has the external shifter mechanisms like a Muncie. That would be a piece of cake using a similar, but improved design to the crude set up it has now.

This van totally has the potential to be resurrected and be taken on as a project. The body is ten times more solid than some of the rotten pieces of crap I've seen for sale lately, AND compared to some of the vans that have been photo documented and are now finished drivers.

I just won't have any part of it and fear has nothing to do with it.

    IT RUUUUUNS!!!!!!

I'm so pumped! We got the 327 running today and it runs saweeeet! Finally, it's true, "It ran when I parked it."

    More to come...videos are uploading.

I found out the block is a 1962-65 327 with either 250 or 375 HP. I hope it's the 375, but the codes on the heads indicate 1962-67 327 1.94 and 1.5 heads versus the hot 2.02 heads. It would very hard to get that out of a 327 unless the heads are seriously opened up...

The head numbers are 3782461. One of the heads has a raised casting of a 12 right over the 8 and 2. Check my photobucket link and you can see all the head castings.

those heads are the early "Fulie " heads ive just put a set on my motor - hard to find now. u must use the early mounts for all acessories as they have no bolt holes in them for that. Usually have 2.02 & 1.60 valves in them.

The code reads 1.94 and 1.5 valves. The 2.02 that everyone thinks they have are harder to come by and obviously a bit more rare=$.

The motor was built by the guy I bought if from in the late 60's. It even has an original dual point delco distributor.

    Years made: 61-70
    Valve Size:64 & 70 CC Chambers
    HP levels: 250-375

Notes:No bolt holes/ These are the double humps.

***(375hp had 70cc Valves w/2.02/1.6 Chamber with Fuel Injection... Post 1968 models)

Roman: Depending on the Valve & Chamber size you have either a 250 or 350 hp. There weren't a lot of LPO's produce during this time period so betting its a 350hp model!!! Great score!!!!

The Truth in Small Block Chevy Cylinder Head Casting Numbers

One of the biggest mis-understandings come from the external markings on the outside of the casting, which many people use for identification. The most widely known is the "Double Hump","Camel Backs",and "Humper".This mark is found on many medium and high performance heads of the 1960'sMany times this mark has been mistakenly believed to be the scarce "fuelie head" that was originally installed on the fuel injected Corvettes.Truth be told however, the Double Hump casting was used on three different heads, including the 275 hp 327 that was installed on thousands of passenger cars sold in North America from 1966-68.These were excellent engines, being Chevy of course! But,they were not fuel injected nor were they considered high performance in their day.Castings were very often used on more than one application, and they were fitted with both large and small valves depending on the application. This goes to show that the Double Hump head may have either large or small valves even after you have verified the casting numbers, depending on the performance level of the vehicle the engine was installed in. When shelling out your hard earned cash for a engine with a set of "Humper"heads just bear in mind the info posted here.More importantly, external casting marks should by no means be used as positive ID for any small block Chevy head. I took removing my heads to figure out what I actually had! Casting number whether heads or Block can only get you a " HP Range". Only after identifying the internal parts specifications can you determine what the sum of all you parts should produce. And of course a DYNO is the all mighty teller of the "TRUTH".... Very Happy

    Dan
