Gen Light coming on

Hey guys

My buddy came over yesterday and we took a ride in the van. Drove it around maybe 5 miles in the neighbor hood. It needs a serious tune up. When I stop I have to keep my foot on the gas or it acts like its going to putter out on me and when it does this the gen light will come on unless I press the gas.

I thinking maybe not enough gas is getting threw the line; it did sit for almost 10yrs before I bought it and I do need to drop the gas tank to clean. Would this cause the gen light to come on though or would it be something else. Dont have trouble shoot book for the van so you guys are my book.

low RPM will do this- generator is not making enough voltage to run the electrical- thats a normal situation -

got cha, Something new to me. In any other vehicle that would be a bad thing, haha.

Also when you have the lights on and press they gas they get brighter.

If it still has a generator you might think about updating to an alternator.

I will take a look to see which it has. I assumed it had alternator.

either system will do that if engine runs slow enough- just gen is less powerful for output

Might just need to tighten the belt

The entire motor and all its compenents really need to be gone through with a fine tooth comb.
