My radiator fix Empty My radiator fix

Post by Stoopid john Sat Jul 16, 2011 8:42 pm

So, i'm driving my van 50 miles a day in the florida heat. I knew it was only a matter of time before i needed a radiator, just not so soon. My top tank split and started to leak. I don't know of any radiator repair shops around my that i would trust.

I found a griffin aluminum radiator that is made for a 32 ford streetrod. Almost the same size, and the only real difference was the the top hose is dead center, instead of off to the right. The price was right too $253 to my door.

I can give you part numbers of very thing i used, i even picked up molded hoses that fit.

Here are the pics i have

To start i set the shroud on to see what i needed to cut. The next thing was the i went to the hardware store and bought some flat aluminum stock to make everything bolt up. I took my time and trimmed everything up.

I'll let you know how it does monday night, before it would run about 3/4 on the factory temp gauge. It would ping alittle close to home so i know it was getting hot.

The one that was in it was a 2 row and every row i can see is plugged. The new one is also a 2 row but the tubs are twice as big. Most all aluminum radiators are only 2 row.
