Ok, not to sound to stupid but I just drained my 3 speed trany and it had gear oil of some sort in it. So I looked in the manual to see what was recommended for a 3 speed manual transmission. It seems that you can put 2 kinds of ATF or SAE 80 or 90 weight gear oil. Just wanted to see what the consensus was on what I should put back in the trany.

Re: 65 A100 Gear oil or ATF?
I bought a new A100 in 1969. Being the hot rod senior in high school and speed shifting I blew the syncros. It had ATF in it and that's what I replaced it with. tranny worked great for the next couple of years I had it.

If you have an automatic you use ATF (automatic transmission fluid ), if you have a manual you use 90w "gear oil" (same stuff that's in the rear end). You can get it at any parts store.

From the manual: service with automatic transmisson fluid type AQ-ATF Suffix A for all temp ranges. You can use SAE 90 in warm climates.

So I guess something like the 75w-90 Amsoil might be the way to go. The temp. range in Spokane can be anywhere from below zero temps to over 100deg. We tend to have about the full extent of all seasons. Thanks for all the input and if anybody has anything to add it would be greatly appreciated.
