Ya know TB, most people wouldn't put a van on jack stands to paint the roof!

Re: What are you up to?
My body guy is on the taller side, so he put it on the stands to finish the final blocking on the bottom edges. when he painted the top he had to build a scaffold around it.

interior cleanup
I took a wire wheel to the wool/fur in the doghouse lid and it made pretty short work of it. Whatever was used to glue it in is very thick and still soft, a real mess. I did a test patch with some paint remover and it came off, but since it's almost a quarter inch thick in spots it was gonna create a real mess. So I will wait and see if I can use something else to glue over it for some Reflectix. In the meantime I installed an S-10 door seal on the doghouse lip and it's air tight now, no more fumes. Going to need to adjust the latch as it is too tight and barely closes.
Here are before and after pictures of replacing the beaten up cardboard panels in the real doors and DS end panel. Until I find out the paint code of the interior metal and a place to mix some up, the rattle can beige looks OK. Better for sure.

Re: What are you up to?
Sandyvan, nice work. You just doubled the value of your interior for the price of a little paint. Looks beautiful!

It's not running yet? What the heck have you been doing all this time?!?! lol
Been watching your thread, looks like you have your block and head all pretty, and now waiting for the tin to get cleaned? That van will be totally unrecognizable from what I saw last summer.

You know I'm pretty sure it was a post 1994 model pickup, but there were more than a few in the yard that day along with S10 Blazers, so I don't remember exactly.
On a different note there were a couple of pre-1994 Blazers and the bucket seats looked like a great option for our vans. Updated but still sorta retro.

Re: What are you up to?
Sandyvan
I had the same issue with that old glue on my doghouse lid. I used acetone and degreaser and A LOT of elbow grease. I used one of those razor blade paint scrapers which helped out quite a bit.
Im sure you could just put something over the top depending on what material you use and how you adhere it. I wanted to put down a protective paint first, so I needed a clean surface.
Those interior panels look great too!

Re: What are you up to?
Yeah, that gunk on the inside of the lid is rubbery, but it is so thick it won't budge with a scraper. I put about a tablespoon of paint remover on a spot and after 15 minutes it came right off, but it was like a pool of molasses, very messy. It will take a full new can of remover and lot of paper towels to get all that crud off.
