Re: What are you up to?
My friend Eric came by today and we set the 240 in my 67 pickup. That was the hard part. Now, it's just putting all the nuts and bolts back in it. I hope to get this one back on the road soon. It's been down a long time. I bought it with a bad engine. It had a big rust hole behind the passenger seat from a battery that sat there. I patched the hole years ago but kinda gave up on the truck when I figured out it was too ruff to restore. I don't want to try and restore it now. I'd like to just make a parts chasser out of it. Something I can go to the junk yard in and not worry about it getting scratched.
This 240 came from my 67 Supervan panel that I parted out. It runs pretty good. It will make a good runabout engine.

Re: What are you up to?
Thanks, it really helps with the "Air-flow" since it's starting to get "real" warm down here! Thinking I will be swapping the 2sp power-glide and 230 out soon and dropping the 250 from the panel van into it with one of the 2nd 200-4R's I picked up. I'm thinking I'm going to "Tunnel" the front of the doghouse while I have everything out...

PS: This is the 999th post in this thread... We may have to "Split" it soon.....

Re: What are you up to?
after 2 weeks of dodging raindrops, its finally together and 'most' of the bugs worked out. since i needed to remove head anyway, i decided to mill it 60k and install bigger cam. added headers too but not happy with the ground clearancegot it all together, hooked up choke, made a bracket for kickdown and cleaned it all up and painted it.put the back seat in too. still have an issue with torque converter grabbing and need to change vacume advance, new cam runs at 14 degrees instead of 6-8 so i need less vacume advance. choke and kickdown need adjusted but easy enough. come monday, i am back on crutches so no work on van for a while. john

Re: What are you up to?
all your work look great, but as you know those headers are just to low. One pot hole will do major damage.

Re: What are you up to?
the headers are on the to do list. hate to cut up and weld new headers but i've done worse. they will have to stay for a month. getting foot sliced up monday and no dirt or grease for a couple weeks, and crutches for 6 weeks. 4th time in 2 years. it makes for long days. i will be good for nats and if vans good, i will make bakers.

Re: What are you up to?
Whopman, Good luck with you back surgery! 2 years ago I had L5 L4 L3 fused with screws and rods put in to stabilize them. I was laid up for about 6 months, but well worth the effort. I still have some aches, but no pain, THNK GOD!

Well those headers can wait, looking good. Best wishes on the surgery.
