Thanks all, i can't wait to start messing with it.

I need to replace the spring bushings very soon and i need to replace the weather strip around the non-fixed windows.

I've never driven one of these until now, every time i park it, i get out and i'm like 4 feet away from where i want to be. I guess there is a learning curve.

yes there is a learning curve - once when i had an 80s dodge extended van i was backing up and this light pole ran up and rear ended me! had a spare mounted on rear door so it hit spare and caved door in ! -nice van with original interior pieces - oo3

I also hate when those telephone poles just sprout up out of nowhere!

Gotta watch out for the intersection curbs. They're usually "closer than they appear" while making a right turn.

    I like that!!

I drove it to work today, about 55 miles round trip. I've had old cars all my life but i've never had so many thumbs up and questions at a stop light. Man, that dog box gets hot!!!

I fatmatted the dog house, fixed the gas tank (someone backed into something), Installed a GM one wire alt (old one was charging at 19 volts) and installed an electric choke.

The other thing was i did the HEI module swap and got rid of the ballast, along with the mopar box.

I'm going to be driving it 50 miles a day and the less to go wrong, the better.

I need the fatmat the roof, nothing but a metal roof in the rain sounds like a bunch of marbles. I bought a 100ft i don't think it will go as far as i hope it will.

Well, i made my first long trip today with the van. I bought an engine in Fort Lauderdale, I left at 4am and got back home at 4pm!! I couldn't have asked for a better road trip. Van ran great, temp was 160ish the whole way.

I bought a 71 slant that has an offy intake, 6 into 1 header, mild cam (not sure yet), 390cfm 4 barrel and it's 10:1. It's complete from oil pan to air cleaner. Also got the matching 904 auto with the drive shaft.

My van has been eating alot of oil for some reason. It smokes pretty much any time i lift off the throttle. It doesn't smoke on start up but the plugs all look great (light golden brown and clean with no ash) I'm thinking exhaust guide or seal. If it was an oil ring i think i would see it in the plugs. And i'm talking about 5 quarts in about 3 weeks!!

The engine was to good of a deal to pass up and it saves me from down time on the van. Plus i really want to swap to an auto.

    Thanks guys,

I pulled the old engine and install the new one in on the same day. I had to mess with the carb linkage rods to make the 4 barrel to work and i wasn't real happy it, so i got a cable. The engine i got ended up having a "purple" cam shaft in it that has a 240 dur@50. That's huge for a slant!! It was 40 over and the compression ended up being 10.4-1.

All in all it's running good. I've pulled alot of engines in my day but it was my first to bring it out the front door!!

I will not need my air filter and i never had a filter in mine. I don't know if it was to have one in it or not.
