will a 170 tranny bolt up to a 240? i have a going out tranny in my van and well there is a replacement sitting in the weeds needing a home can it be done? I would think so but figured i would ask before finding out the hard way...

From what I know, 240 has a big bellhousing,144,170 and some 200's depending on year have the small bellhousing

Small six has lots of differences, first off, the gearing is different, input shaft size, clutch size,, short answer is no....shame you are so far away,, I have three of four of them at least?

I don't want to make any extra work for anybody, but...
I just bought a 67 3-speed from Vanishingbreed. Since it is a direct swap for what I already have, I did not need the bellhousing, so he took that off and boxed up the rest. The double box with foam packing and transmission weighed just over 80 lbs and cost me just over $40 to ship 1100 miles (S.CA to N.OR) using FedEx Ground. Mike had to try a few FedEx locations and I had to receive it at my business location, but once that was figured, it was surprisingly cheap and easy (Mike might disagree on the easy part ...(thanks again, Mike!)).
