Here is the start. Started on the left side. Had to heat the knuckle to remove the drag link. Set pin seized in the axle. Drill out the set pin, not too bad. Then the king pin was seized. Beat for a bit. Cut it in to three pieces with the cut-off wheel. Then to stat drill out the pin. Drill, drill, drill.

6:45 am now. Been a long night of seized pins. Heat, drill, heat, drill, drill, beat, beat, beat. Still, I'll do it again when I get another. toad

Man... glad my A wasn't that bad, just had to do the "heat" and beat, then take to the machine shop to get the new bushings pressed in and line honed.

I guess you never know what you'll run into when you tear into one..My axle was wallowed out but I didn't have any trouble like that to get it apart....The only bolt that I had to drill out was the shock mounting bolt was seized in the axle... tough job you got going there.... thats the kind of &%$#@$%*^! that it doesnt spell out in the service manual....

Indeed the manual doesn't mention it! I still have to to the right side! Maybe it will fall apart, maybe? I know my shoulder is throbbing from pressing on the drill and there is still more to go once I get a bigger bit today. Wish me luck.....toad

Interesting way of doing it, i thought about cutting through the old ones on mine, as they were seized like yours.....!! In the end i made up a HUGE press to get them out, took a couple of days to do both sides....!!!

Well,,,,,,,if I had a Ford,,,,,,,I would use this Harbor Freight Ball joint installer clamp and 1/2" electric inpact gun to help the pin and kingpin shaft make up its mind,,,,,,,,,,,maybe a side order of a long breaker bar and some heat in case they don't get the message,,,,,,,,

Those clamps are great, although they only really work with kingpins that are not too seized up. It didn't do anything on either of mine.....!!!

Did you use an impact wrench on it ?? A breaker bar with a 4 foot long cheater bar on it ?? Soak it with Kroil oil?? Heat it up with a torch ??

I used one with an impact and a breaker bar with a cheater pipe. Heat, Kroil, PB Blaster, torch, no luck! Got the pin out today with the torch after many passes with a drill bit. Started on the bushings. Old ones out, new ones in, and started reaming.

wow that does look like alot of fun, i wish i can give advice but mine came apart with no heat at all...i used an air chisel for the pins and a 1/2 impact gun, had my machine shop press the pins back in. 70 bucks saved me time and effort and gave me some time to do some rust preventive work on the wheel wells and front frame

I should have snagged the axle out and taken it to work, then put it in the 60 ton press.
