    Mirror Questions Empty Mirror Questions

Post by blackace Thu Apr 14, 2011 6:52 am

I have some mirrors that are in need of some major help. (See photos) I have some questions on these mirrors.

    1) Are these mirrors something that would of been original with the pickups? I have seen alot of different styles but none with the extra leg on it for stability
    2) Are these mirrors repairable? They seem to be pretty rusted and pitted and I have not done much work with restoration of parts?
    3) If the answer to ? #2 is NO, does anyone have a set of mirrors that would be like these that are in better shape?

The span between the top mounting point to bottom mounting point, not the support leg, is 12" with the depth from mounting point to back leg of support being 6". The mirror size is 10" x 5"

Back cover seems to be either stainless or aluminum (no rust)

their are some avail on ebay from time to time - also - contact some of the larger auto parts shops, they are still around- those will cost you more to redo than new ones.

Thanks. It is kinda what I was thinking. Is it worth tearing apart and keeping the backs for anyone that might need them?

Thanks there Rod. Am going to order a set from Amazon as they offer free shipping. The reviews say that it is a bit difficult to get mounted. Have you bought any of them and mounted them? Just wondering before ordering.

No, I have the pedistal mounts for the A-100, older West coast on the A-108.
I prefer the look of the pedistal, but for driving the west coast provides a better view.
I will have to find heads for the pedistals, the ones on it were hacked on.

Hey Rod, I was looking at how most other vans and pickups mirrors mount and most of them seem to mount to the top of the door frame and then just under the window. If you look at the pic of my tuck, these mirros mount on the angled front arm of the door frame and then on the bottom. With the lenght between the top and bottom mount, there is no way it would mount to the top. I did not see any other mirrors that mounted like mine on any of the users gallery pics. Is this odd or ??
