    Different grills? Empty Different grills?

Post by kltcustoms Tue Apr 12, 2011 7:50 am

Ok so I wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone knows...... I have a 1967 A100 and it was missing the grill.... It had some sort of hand made grill.

So my buddy had a grill for me but it doesn't fit right....the ends don't line up at all. Is there a different in a early a100 vs. say something from 69 or 70?

Looks alot better than the homemade one but still would like it to fit better.

When the fab grill was in there maybe it was made to fit better messing up the hole, I have always thought they all fit 64-70

AFAIK, they are all the same. The fancy ones had a 'bright' I.E., chrome one and some of those have a trim strip that goes across the center, but the basic grille is the same. Judging from the nose bumps you have, I'd guess the fit is due to damage, although when the custom one was fitted, the nose might have had some changes done for it to fit.

Here are some better shots of how off it, is doesn't seem like the damage in the front would really bump off the lines that much. I kinda figured they might have changed 68-70. Mine is a 67 and the inside doors are drifferent...is there any other differences??

So... where do I find a chrome Grill, for my 67 Custom Sportsman? Are they original, or are they after market plated?

They are hard to find in any type of condition, I took mine to a chrome shop and had them do the grill, headlight rings and mirror arms.

You have to talk to your plater.
There are many people who offer straightening services, but they are NOT cheap for good work. A local guy charges 10 a foot for trim straightening/polishing. You can look in Hemmings for others offering the service.
I prefer a polished aluminum bezel to chrome, but it's a personal preference.
