how hard would it be to fix my gas gauge? i hate not knowing how much gas i have in the van. all of my other gauges work except for the gas gauge. would i have to drop the gas tank? i am lost on working on a lot of the things in this van but i try to learn as i go.

Re: Gas gauge issue
90% of the time it's the ground wire causing the problem

Re: Gas gauge issue
Try 1st. Gmans fix- then if that doesnt work?? Disconnect the wire going to the sender-at the gague 1st. put a test light on that terminal on the gague- see if the test light comes on or-blinks. If good it will either way- then - install the sender wire - disconnect the wire at the tank sender -check for same= should work = proving that wire is good & not broken somewhere. Then also when u try the ground wire -?? as Gman suggeste -ill add prove that you have a good ground!1 Go with the ground wire back to battery _ negative term with a jumper wire . That will prove what is bad - maybe sender or gague - U've now tested the entire system --- except that if the gague isnt getting power- Remember were dealing with an old vehicle = anything can happen- esp.= wires coroded oe broken / shoreted in the van??
