Chevy Van VIN number

HI All,
My wife just bought me an old chevy van and i am looking for information on it before i start fixing it up. I was wondering if anyone knows a place to get info on the VIN number.
Also, i was thinking about having a spray-in bedliner company coat the inside of the van. What is your opinion on this? It looks clean and i was thinking that it would deaden the noise a bit also.

I think she's a 64. My father in law owned her for years, then she left the family. My wife bought her back last week after 13 years and surprised me with it. needs lots, but she runs strong. The VIN starts off with "1 G125 5 P" and then six numbers which i think are the serial number. I'll try and post a pic.

64-66 look almost the same, only a few things changed. How many slots in the grill??? Panel or window??? Can't get better than that having the wife on board with the restoration

There are 5 slots in the grill, and two windows in the side doors on the passenger side. no windows on the drivers side. try this link and see if you can see the pic i uploaded. I couldn't figure out how to upload a pic to this forum. im not to savvy with the forum stuff yet.

it's a 1964.

65s and 66s had the extra (narrower) slot in the grill, below the ones on the 64.

You have a first year first gen

The vin # said its a 65(early 65 with smaller grill ,leftover from 64)

Does it have a horizontal brace on the inside of the driver's body panel in the area of where windows would be if it were a window van? Yes for 1964 / No for 65-66. After that only '67-70 long wheelbase vans had them.

Some early 1965 vans had the smaller grille

Citrus Hill back then GM didn't want a waste parts and sometimes older body parts carried over to the next year to use them up if they would still fit the body.

The flat glass / small grills just look better to !
