Heater Core Tips? Empty Heater Core Tips?

Post by Slick Steve Wed Sep 01, 2010 4:42 pm

I have a small leak in my heater core, and I have found a new Heater Core at Napa. Can anyone give me any helpfull hints on replacing it? Do I need to remove the entire heater box, or can I get it open without removing it? I have a 66' HD regular van.

Removing the whole thing is the easiest way to go... six screws behind the headlamp / vent grille from the exterior. Replacing it is a two person job. Once the whole unit it out, it's quite easy. And you may have an opportunity to refurbish your heater box. I'd do it soon before it gets too cold though...
