    king pins Empty king pins

    Post by pan58head Wed Aug 25, 2010 8:02 pm

We'll took the 64 for inspection today, Passed but there is some play in the king pins. My quesyion is I have been looking for replacements and it seems there are some choices. Thrust bearing , platic bushing, etc. anyway of telling without tearing the front end apart.(enjoying it to much). Also who has the best king pins for the best price. Thanks in advance Bob

I'm not an expert but I think the king pin sets only come with nylon bushing these days.

They used to originally be bronse.

My understanding is the Delrin (high tensile nylon) is factory. Chevy boasts about it in their sales manuals. However, it seems a lot of folks replace with bronze. I guess it depends on wear and care. And, since I like the Delrin I use White Lithium Grease instead of std. stuff as it should not be a solvent to the plastic.

The Nylon is what is in them,,,,,but the Bronze ones were the replacements of choice,,,,,but,,,,,,you ended up with the possibility of having the bushings reamed out to fit after having them put in,,,,,,and now those Bronze ones are really hard to find anyways,,,,,,,so Nylon is what you probably will end up using ,,,,,,,
