Intake manifold & headers Empty Intake manifold & headers

Post by Linoman Fri Aug 13, 2010 11:39 am

I'm wondering are there manifolds(such as Clifford, etc.) and headers that will fit in the standard Doghouse?
I'm sure there's probably a thread some where on this already, but I couldn't find one. This will be a future upgrade, just how future will depend on cost, so I'm starting my research now. All opinions of other options in this are much appreciated. Thanks for all your input. ~ Tim

Clifford has the headers. if you have a 240 they have an aluminum intake but the doghouse has to be modified

My van has a pumped up 300 I6 with some Clifford goodies...including the headers and intake manifold. Compared to the efforts I've seen to shoe-horn a V8 into the doghouse, the mods for the Clifford parts are easy. Top two pics are my van...bottom pic is a V8 swap. I'll get better pics of my modded doghouse.

PDX ~ thanks for your input. More pics are always helpful and welcome.
I don't intend on a engine swap as I'm happy with my 240 I6, it just needs a little help in the oomph department. The 1 barrel autolite is kinda anemic. Anyways at this point it's about figuring out how much $$$ I'll need to set aside. ~ Tim

The I6 can be built to have very satisfactory performance. My 300 is overkill, but it makes the van a nice work truck...I have never been short on power. Mine is a Heavy Duty, so the drivetrain is already beefy. The brakes have been upgraded too (if you're going to GO, you better be able to STOP). In other words, consider the whole vehicle...not just the engine.

Nice pics, what all is sticking out into the "bump out" you added to the DH?

Actually the STOP part is one reason the Go part will be in the future. The rest of my van funds I currently have are dedicated to a front disc brake conversion this fall. ~ Tim

I need to check my coolant, anyhow...I'll snap some picture that show the mods a bit better...stay tuned...

that is how you make a Clifford intake with a four barrel fit. A friend of mine made his out of some duct that he cut to fit.
