Vent window
I'm trying to get my passenger side vent window out and I'm not having very good luck. I'm wondering if anyone could give me some tips? I have taken out the screws that hold the frame in place, do I have to take more of the door apart?

Re: Vent window
You will need to take out the window glass to.The vent window frame is also the channel the front of the window glass rides in.oldeconolines group on yahoo has a complete parts manual in there files section with pics of how it all goes together or comes apart.

Re: Vent window
Now that we are on this subject,
who makes the best replacement vent window rubbers? I can see by the condition of ours, how the water gets in and rots out the door bottoms. Art

Re: Vent window
If you are only removing the window and not the frame, remove the 2 screws on the edge of the vent winodw pivot, remove the inner door access panel and remove the nut off the bottom of the pivot. Its tough to access but with extensions its do-able. Theres a lock type splined spacer/washer thats kinda tricky to remove but once its off it comes right out.

Re: Vent window
Art,water gets in along the regular winodw also,no avoiding that. Make sure the drain holes in the bottom arent blocked by debris/dirt. Currently only Dennis Carpenter makes the seals and they dont fit right. Im working with Restoration Specialties now to correct this problem.

Re: Vent window
Thanx Econo,
Our doors are in excellent shape, no rot. I`m going to use some aluminum tape as a temp fix to keep the water out until we can replace them along with the fuzzy channels. Please keep us updated when you feel they are right and ready to purchase. Art

Re: Vent window
Latest update is they cant make the vent seals after several attempts so they have subbed them to a company with better tooling. I was told they were shipping me 25 sets of pop out window seals this week so let's hope that happens. They also said they finally got the wire inserts for the front door seals and they should soon follow. After that they will work on the rest of the body and door seals. All I can do is hope they come through eventually. They have corrected the bad window channels they already made and I have some new ones already in my posession.

Re: Vent window
Tim, any update on the Restoration Specialties window & door seals? Would emails &/or phone calls to them from other interested Econoline owners help move things along? I know I'll be needing pop-out window seals by spring. Windshield and doors to follow hopefully not too long there after.

I'm also interested in getting some seals for pop-out windows. Please let us know!

Re: Vent window
I was just informed their supplier of bulk rubber went belly up and they cant get the raw seal they use to form the ones they're making. They are looking for another source currently. Just another in the many, many delays. They have no idea when they can get the material. To say Im a little tired of their excuses would be a major understatement.

Re: Vent window
Thanks for the update Tim, we'll all just stay tuned. Hopefully another option for them or us will materialize by the time I'll need seals. ~ Tim

Re: Vent window
Dennis Carpenter in the Carolinas has all this rubber door and glass seals for pop out windows and windsheild. glass channels and the cat whiskers for the glass. Check for their web site and it should provide you pics. I have an old catalog of theirs.

Re: Vent window
While this is true, Carpenter's window rubbers don't fit with the exception of the windshield rubber which I have not heard complaints on.
The fixed window rubber is too big and creates dimples and the vent window rubbers are really too thick and don't fit at all. I have experience with the fixed window and vent window rubber.
That's why we were all holding out hope that Tim was going to have some success with restoration but it seems like they are not coming through despite Tim's best efforts.
