Lowering, how low? Empty Lowering, how low?

I got a quote this morning from my local spring shop on de-arching the springs to lower my Econoline. How low, can you usually go without any turning or rubbing issues?? I was told $300 for 3 inches, if they dont break the springs in the process.

lowering vehicles is a disease. its like it can never be low enough. once you start you'll never be happy until theres only a roof laying on the driveway. i have slammed a lot of detroit iron and its always the same. with these vans its even worse because once your done theres still a seven foot pile of steel in your face. its like youv'e got four flat tires instead of a lowered vehicle. just my observation.
