I won't make this a heated debate that not why we are here, but they are vans made into pickups. They have all the same parts - the tailgate. I called once and asked why they weren't allowed and they said they are a pick-up. Then I ask if I were to cut the back off a chevy , ford or dodge and make it into a pickup if it would be allowed and then they said yes. . Weither they allow them or not will wreck my day, but my point is from what I see vannin is dying a slow death and in 20 yrs will this kind of thinking it will dye. The key to interest into vannin is the early's and getting as many there should be a the order for business.
Hmmmm I don't think PT Cruisers are allowed, but HHR Panels are. Need to check with Howard (vannin.com ID "on the road")
IMHO, Econoline P/U's, A-100 P/U's, and Corvair P/U's are not vans, they are factory built pickup trucks regardless if they share the same mechanicals as the vans.
Some local clubs will allow pickups into their events if they are club affiliated.
That's a Chevy HHR Panel anyway. Those are allowed into the Nats. The window version isn't and neither are PT Cruisers.
G-man I didn't mean to come off harsh on that, it's just that when I used to own an A-100 p/u, people would ask me about my "van" or ask me if I chopped a van to make a pickup. I'd have to tell them it's a pickup, not a van, it was never a van...it came from Ma Mopar as a pickup truck. Of course that's not as bad as the old man that asked me what year my VW was when he looking directly at my A-100 window van I used to own. I still wonder about that guy. LOL!
PB2, that a HHR in both pictures. There were about 10 @ the Nat's
nate this is just a discussion and I take no offence to your opinion. My point is really the people running the Nat's have to look for ways to bring more people to vannin. Thinking from the 70's has not helped make things grow and new ideas should be tried.
I hear ya on that G-man. I was kinda dissapointed that they will let HHR panels (which is a freakin' car!) but won't let a Dodge Transvan in because it's basically an RV. It's more van than a damn HHR!!!!!
