Just wondering if there are any good tips on gluing the door seals on and installing the rear windows without wrecking anything? the windows are the lock-strip type gaskets. Is there any particular adhesive that should be used ? or is the yellow snot 3M type okay?

Re: Door and window seals, tips??
Joe I used the 3M on my 69, it holds good in some places and not so great in others. My guess is I didn't use enough in those areas. I reused my old seals and used a ton of small claps or pincher clamps to hold it in place. I will also tell you this this stuff is messy and a pain to work with

I used the 3M stuff too, Like Chris said its a mess on new paint(glue might soffen new paint!!!). I put the glue on both pieces & let dry, then put strip on(If it don't stick recoat & let dry & try agan). Who's WS are you useing?? As for the back windows, make sure its warm & lub it up a little to help slide on. Seems like I saw a tool someplace to help put iin??

Digz on the door seals very messy job I had no problem use glue on both surfaces let dry to tacky then attach and hold in place till secure especialy on the arch under the door, you might have to hold it for awhile but it will stick and it helps greatly to have an extra pair of hands. Bill

Don 't know if the Es and Gs have this, but the original seals on my A have a wire embedded in the seal that snaps into holes to keep it in place. Is this a picture of the remains.
Do the repops have this?

Re: Door and window seals, tips??
I got some of the Black 3M , that went fairly well, small bead on the door then thinned it with a finger, then quickly puta small bead on the gasket in the right place and did the same, by the time I cleaned my fingers with some laquer thinner it was ready to stick on, just had to use a little masking tape in those middle spots where the body line kicks back. The rear windows Im afraid I will wait for the pro. I keep knicking the paint up.

Re: Door and window seals, tips??
Digz, how warm is it (seeing it's winter and Michigan)?
You need nice warm and soft gaskets, plenty of sealer in the metal channel, then silicone spray in the glass channel and on the edge of the glass.
a smal rope pressed into the glass channel, start the bottom edge of the glass, work around the corners, pulling the rope straight back to force the rubber out allowing the glass to drop into the channel. You will want gloves and lots of shop towels.
Is it new glass? Is it too big? Once the seal is in place, measure the channel and the glass.

Re: Door and window seals, tips??
Its the glass that was in them (old), shop is about 65 degrees, I was trying dish soap but it seems to dry out kinda fast on the rubber, I'll pick up some silicone spray and give it a go. Thanks,

Just so everyone will know, TRUCKandCARSHOP will not accept an order for less than $25.
I tried to order a couple of dome light lenses and they wouldn't fill the order. They called to tell me it had to be $25 or more.

Re: Door and window seals, tips??
Try doing 8 of those windows like I had to do,,,,,,old weatherstripping would be hard to put back in,,,,,,,,JC Whitney has new stuff,,,,,,but I really struggled to GET that spline started and KEEP it locked inside and around the corners,,,,,,,I made a tool but the REAL TOOL slips over the end of the spline, you shove the tool down into the weatherstrip, the spline locks in place, you pull the tool along the inside of the weatherstrip the spline just crawls in and locks itself in place. I plan on buying the real tool,,,,,you can make one if you just have 2 doors to do,,,,,,just form like a nail in the shape of an arrowhead around that spline,,,,,grab it with vice grips and use it to drag the spline along in the weatherstripping groove,,,,,,
