Need Help with TPI wireing Empty Need Help with TPI wireing

    Post by m1dadio Sun Jul 05, 2009 11:48 am

I know some of you guys have answers.

I am trying to order an elecric speedo to go with my TPI 700R4 install.

#1 What VSS do I have? I have read everywhere and two sorces give my two values. Do I have the 4000 or the 2000 hertz VSS? It was a 1988 pontiac trans am GTI 305TPI 700R4.

#2 The car had the digital dash, I think I have the buffer that was installed under the dash. Will I need that buffer with an aftermarket speedo?

#3 There is lots of talk about VATS. Vehicle anti theft system. I don't know if the car had VATS There dosn't seem to be anything special about the key? How can I find out? I still have the steering colum complete, is there a clue on its wireing as to VATS or not? and if so what can I do about it.

I cant use any of the old Gauges, I want a new cluster and I have to keep the VSS for the computer.

I'm going with the Classic instruments Hot Rod series. I will get the speedo in KPH, the quad engine instrument, an overdrive shift indicator and a clock all matched set.

Ya, the TPI installation is not quite like the normal early wiring.

    Finnally coming together.
Going out to do pre activation tests tonight.

Heres the place where the TPI integrates with the van harness
