Hello, I bought a 1961 Econoline a few years ago. It was motor and tranny-less, but I’ve since purchased a 170 motor and transmission. The motor sat for 20+ years and I’ve now got it pretty spotless. I really want to replace everything that I can in order to make it as reliable as possible. I purchased the Ford Falcon book that I’ve seen mentioned on here, but was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what would be the best route. I’m trying to keep it simple which I know is a pipe dream on older restorations. Thanks in advance.

Re: 170 motor bolt on suggestions
The motor and trans are sitting on my workbench, I figured I’d add any parts prior to installing.

Have you done a compression and cylinder leak down test to determine the condition of the engine?

Read the 1st while waiting for delivery of the 2nd?
(Don't forget ur 165 lb weight (or is it 156?) near the tank/rear axel).
EDIT:
o0OP, on re-read I C U have 'the Handbook'. Hope ur motor is '68 plus ('64 plus = ability to up grade to DSII ignit, '68+ = top carby instal). U really CAN... KIS,S w/that. If U had the pan off U can C the huge counter weights on, that 2.8 is really beefy, carried my bronk up steep winter hills w/a 6.5 ft blade full of wet, warm, heavy sno (411 gears).
Motor instal thru double side doors/engine crane (dog house removed) or drop vehicle frnt end over motor - both is w/o lift access. We used tranny jack w/vehicle ona 2 post lift. Tranny 2nd as it was a 250/4.1 (SBF bell) install & needed a adapter for the 5speed layin around ('04 TJ).
