Compounding an old A100 Empty Compounding an old A100

Post by slowflapper Tue Aug 22, 2017 6:16 pm

Well I got tired of wearing my arms out trying to wax all my old rides so I bought myself a "Presa Turbine" 6" buffer off Amazon. I ordered an extra pad kit, two bottles of Meguires 105 and 205 compound and some good wax.

My plan is to compound the original Arctic Blue on the van and see how it comes out, followed my our '77 F250 Very Happy

I had time today to make a quick pass over the passenger door with some regular old turtle wax compound. I've got to say I'm loving this thing already, by the time I get the 2 part compound done with a coat of wax the old van is going to be gleaming.

I figured ya'll would enjoy so I'll update my progress here.

Here's a quick shot, the pillar between the passenger and side door is a great contrast to the side door which I haven't hit yet. I hit the top part of the front under the windshield as well, no wax on anything yet, just compound and wipe off.

    Interesting.

The images are hosted on Google photos (my account) and shared. I can see them fine on Chrome, Firefox, and Android, Internet Explorer doesn't show the pictures in the thread.

Post #8 works, #1 does not work.

But - I can see your shared gallery directly at google! Thanks a lot for sharing, it showed me some details I did not have, yet.

Do you have pictures of the spare tire rack, how it is mounted and such?
    Thanks a lot.

Ok, that means for some reason you guys cant see google photos linked here directly from my gallery (the last two are hosted elsewhere as a test). But, you can see the gallery directly, really weird.

There's a picture in the gallery of it, its a horizontal bar welded from the rear door jamb to the passenger side wheel well. It's on the passenger side in the back, the wheel/tire just clamps to it and stands on edge along the side of the van.
