9" rear end pinion angle Empty 9" rear end pinion angle

Post by Seth G Sat Sep 10, 2016 7:20 pm

Hi, I'm trying to set my trans/engine angle and found a problem with the pinion angle at the rear. I bought my 9" rear from a yard, they pulled it b/c it was in there "vintage" lot. So i'm not sure if the 9" rear ends came with spring pad wedges? The small rear end did not have them.

The problem is, as the van sits at normal ride height the pinion is angle up 6.5-7 degrees, which is to much, I'd have to tip the trans/engine way down to match this angle. I'm planning on getting some 2 or 2.5 degree wedges b/c I like the engine at about 4-5 degrees. Which appears to be the same/opposite as the carb flange angle.

Does anyone know if the 9" rears came with wedges? If so, do you know what the angle of those wedges are?

    Thanks,
    Seth

Angle your pinion to match the angle of your engine.

Thanks, I get that part. I'm wondering if the 9" rear vans came with wedges b/c it's off by 2 deg from where it should be...
