We are all set to do this mod and I'm seeing that we would have to move the radiator so far forward (about 4" from the upper front of the doghouse) that I'm concerned about air flow.

Has anyone done this fan with a 200 I6? Can you post some pictures?

Also - is there an fan shroud that works with the 240 radiator and the factory fan?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Is it b/c of the engine fan? Most people ditch the engine fan when they go to the taurus 2 spd fan. Some will use a volvo 2 spd fan switch and vw or bmw 2 stage fan switch or single stage fan switch and manual override switch. I would use an 80 amp solenoid/contactor to actually throw the power to the fan.

No - we removed the factory fan.

Do you have an I6 in your van or a V8? The V8s are considerable shorter.

Can you post some pictures of your setup and how close the radiator is to the front of the doghouse? I can fabricate a mount to move everything forward, but if I'm blocking air flow by being too close to the front of the doghouse there seems little point in all the gyrations of installing the fan/alternator.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

I haven't done the taurus thing. Contact Vic LaFontaine aka Old Skool. He's the origin of the swap. Member stanyon did this swap and he's got a 200, I do remember he was having a clearance issue. He hasn't been around in a while. It's mentioned here:

Also, make sure your 200 has the short water pump, the later ones, post '78 had longer snouts from what I've read. The short one should measure approx 4" from the block to the hub face.
