you got a voltmeter to test to see if the system is charging? if it aint,,,,,unplug the regulator and put 12 volts to the F terminal in the connector and see if it starts charging,,,,also,,,,,,pull off a battery cable and connect a 12 volt test light between the cable and battery post,,,,,,if it lights that means you got a drain in the system and its sucking juice out of the battery when everything is supposed to be off,,,,see what you find so we dont have to be making 100 guesses on what could be wrong,,,

Good advice. The field terminal may be labeled 'FLD' on Motorcraft alternators. That will tell you if it's the regulator. Make sure your voltage sense wire is hooked up to the regulator, is good and hooked to the B+ terminal of the alternator or a good +12 source if the above works.

Thanks for the help everyone. It was the voltmeter. Got a new electric one installed. Next task... while working on it I noticed how bad the wiring harness was. Any clue how much one would cost to install by a pro? Is this something that I could tackle in my apartment parking lot?
