A-100 V8 Engine Mount Question Empty A-100 V8 Engine Mount Question

Post by Guest Wed Dec 30, 2015 11:44 am

I'm swapping the I6 out for a 360 Magnum, got the frame brackets and engine mounts and rubber bushings from different people.

I already found out that the stud on the rubber mount on the frame side goes down, not up, and it fits it there fine now.

But I had to guess at attaching the motor mounts to the magnum block, and when the engine's in there, the rear of the block is close to the hump in the floor at the rear. I'm thinking the mounts need to be attached to the block in the rearmost position, as opposed to the fore-most position as I have it here.

Does this look right (passenger side mount) ?

Use the original V8 mounts, behind the ears and the "new right" needs a tab added so the mount will fit the forward lower ear. The next generation engine brackets are to tall by about an inch. The early rubber isolators are also to tall, oddly enough the second generation truck isolators are about a 1/4" +/- shorter, this will center the engine in the frame rails, trans will mount correctly and plenty of space at the hump.

    Thanks, Busman!

Good info and great pics. I put my steel mounts in front of the block "ears". I'll move and modify the mounts tomorrow. Also, I'll check on the thickness of the rubber bushings, mine looks a bit thicker than yours.

    Thanks again!

I moved the mounts to behind the block "ears". A little fabrication and some paint, worked great. Plenty of room between the rear of the block and the floor now.

    Thanks, Busman!
