I have replaced the points set the gap to .024 new condenser, new wires, new plugs .039 gap timing is 6 degrees before top dead center the wires are in the correct positions the points gap is still good but it runs rough still. I have replaced the timing chain two years ago when I bought the truck. It still starts right up but idles like crap John Los Angeles, CA

you could give it a little more advance. I like to do it by ear. It's probably a problem with the carb, idle circuit is gummed up maybe or vacuum leak somewhere.
