How about masonite? Here a link about methods for bending/forming masonite panels. It's in metric but has everything you need to know.

Masonite is great if you never ever get it even the slightest bit wet. Home depot and lowes sell 4x8 sheets of plastic wall paneling, the stuff the usual use to line toilet stalls. You can cut them with heavy scissors, bend them to any curve imaginable and use hot glue to hold joints.

Except when you are forming it. You can get different thicknesses at local lumber yards than what you may find at the big box stores.

1/4 inch ply you need something that you can get the staples into from the back that wont go through.
