So I saw the vin number topics on here recently and thought to go check my vins to the title. Im new at this and may have made a huge error. I cand find them anywhere. It is a 1964 econoline. Please tell me where to look. there is no plate on the door and I removed the tail lights and looked there. Didnt see anything but maybe im looking in the wrong spot. Im currently removing the doghouse to look under there. Please tell me where to look specifically. This van is going to kill me. And i know i should have checked this sooner. Please be nice.

Re: Vin Number Panic - Please Help
There is a brace on the passenger side rear of the van just under the tail lights on the interior of the van, it should be stamped there.

I got a Scare with mine after I bought it also..!!!..It was titled as a 1966 GMC but I found a protect o plate and a owners manual for a 1965 GMC in the glove box..!!!..Turns out the guy bought the stuff at a swap meet a few months earlier... ..

Re: Vin Number Panic - Please Help
Yeah that wasnt very fun, but I learned some helpful information. Should be fun explaining to the inspector that my vin number is behind a wall in the back of my van. Hes going to think Im planning to abduct him for sure. "Trust me Mr. Inspector, just get inside and look behind that rear panel back there."
Where is the number supposed to be on the doghouse? I never found it. Also any ideas as to why someone would remove the vin plate from my door?

Re: Vin Number Panic - Please Help
Hello Econolove.
The number is on the lip where the doghouse bolts on. After removing the doghouse you will have to scrape the sealant away to see it. It could be on the right, left or front. or possibly not at all. I have a 62 that didn't have a number anywhere. Here's a picture of my vin on my 67 pickup.
My number is right by the battery box cut out. 65-67 Econolines have the vin stamped on the transmission hump in the back of the doghouse. Your van doesn't the hump so no number there.

Re: Vin Number Panic - Please Help
A previous owner might have swaped doors.
Actually the inspectors will prefer the rear bracket number, because it is harder to swap than the door plate.

Re: Vin Number Panic - Please Help
Found the vin number stamped under the doghouse. Just for future reference mine was located on the passenger side about half way back. Pain in the butt to get to but its there and matched my title as well.
