still getting hot so i guess ill be replacing the radiator. has anyone had any luck finding a radiator that will fit there a-100/a108? i have a 318 engine in an a-108. also, is the only way to get the old one out is to jack the front of the van up and remove it from underneath? thanks

FSR for a new one, do a advance search "FSR" in A Van Discussion couple threads with part numbers.

Only way out that I know of is down, you do not need to jack the van up, at least I didn't.

Drained it, pulled the hoses, removed the four bolts down it came and I still got wet. You do not need to remove the front cover. Also makes a good time to redo the forward insulation.

Okay I got it thanks guys for everything! Easy to remove actually. I'm taking it down to a local radiator shop to have looked at. If they can't fix it Gary from FSR said $425. Kind of steep but most likely the last radiator I'll ever need. There is also the stainless steel flex fan. Maybe I should replace it with a new fan that doesn't flex? Maybe I should put an electric fan? There was also a guy who mounted an extra radiator on the sheet metal beneath the cab.

To make buying FSR at $425 seem reasonable call Walker Radiator and get a cost for a all brass radiator, be sitting down, have smelling salts in hand.

    Shakeejake,
You can do alot yourself on radiator reconditioning: flushing, pressure testing, fin straighting, and soldering and painting. I took mine to a local radiator shop for the soltering, flushing and testing for $100 but wound up doing the flushing, pressure testing, fin straightening and painting myself anyway.
Later, I also replaced leaking exhaust studs (front and rear on a 273) and the leaking water pump. So check for leaks.
Also, inside the water pump cavaty was a filthy mess which I cleaned out and then flushed the block after reassembly. I did the block flushing with a fitting added to the heater hose to connect a garden hose. Remove both side block water drain plugs to flush the block.

Hey guys forgot to mention a local radiator shop who has been around for years worked I mine. "Rod out" fixed leaks, fin straighten, and paint for $150. Put it back in the van and it stays between 160-180 when driving
When I stop at a light or in tragic it'll get up to 190 maybe. But back to 160 when driving
