Nice find. I actually like the avocado accent stripe.

The color isn't bad, but I think it was a backyard job (the green anyway). I want to jump on this before he starts doing some digging. It's been sitting in that carport since 2006 or 2007.

That is one Sweet Design! Better scoop it up before it's gone!

Re: Mercury Econoline Van
I know. But now I have a dilemma. I found a 63 8 door that has no motor or tranny, but already has the 9" rear and V* crossmember. ZERO rust, very solid. Would like to drop in a 289. The Merc is cool and I'm sure more rare, but I'm torn if I want a window van or not. And I think I can get it for $1500. Thoughts?

Re: Mercury Econoline Van
Go with your gut! Do you have a horseshoe in your pocket or what??? Or, you could always buy both, one for cruising and one for business advertising!
If you decide not to buy the Merc, I'm sure someone on here would love a shot at it if you could post the contact info...

Re: Mercury Econoline Van
Dude, I don't know what's up with the van finds. Is the 8 door a rare piece as well? I kind of like the idea of being able to open both sides...and the back. I believe I will get one of them, and I am leaning towards the 8 door. When that happens, I will certainly post the info on the Merc so someone can take a shot at it...

8 Doors are pretty rare as well. Nice cause you can get in or out from both sides. You must have good Karma or something. Did the Dali Lama give you words of wisdom? Do you have that going for ya? What ever it is, get what you feel is right for you! Good luck and keep us posted!

Re: Mercury Econoline Van
Has anyone fabricated a tunnel from the front of the doghouse to the front of the van to get more airflow to the radiator? Just doing some planning.. Seems like it would be a good idea...emphasis on "seems".

Around 1962 the left side of the Canadian VIN switched places with the right side of the VIN.
The 5921190L part is common to many Econos and tells that it is a 6 cyl, Econo van, 90 wheelbase, Left-hand drive. The 98242A part of your example is the serial number.

The idea has been kicked around here. I've had some discussions with my friend whom I got my van from, he always pondered it.

Re: Mercury Econoline Van
Have you made your final choice on one of them? If you're passing on the Merk I'd really appreciate if you could put me in touch with the owner. I'm Canadian and would love to bring this puppy back home!
Feel free to PM me or at least let me know if it's still available!
Cheers
