Re: Bagged 1966 G van under construction
So if you have ever paid attention to a VW bus, I am making the same rear platform and the rear doors will be converted to a tailgate and hatch. The tailgate will open to access some storage space/and where the fuel tank is. Leaving the hatch to open to the back...flat surface in back, along with a bench seat converting to a bed, like a Westfalia VW.

This is an amazing build. I would dare say this will be one of the best vans in the country once you finished. I am in awe of your skills.

Re: Bagged 1966 G van under construction
SORRY< saw this bike and couldn't pass it up. My whole idea of my van is to take an approach that takes the late 60's to early 70's vibe. Trying to keep with what parts are from now (a/c power steering and air ride...mixed with the vibe that Easyrider and Fast times at Ridgemont High would of had. So I modified the bike to be a companion to the van. It will make for a fun way to get around car shows. I will include a youtube clip soon

Second a seat

That's a really cool bike. Should go good with van. I thought for sure it would have an air ride suspension though...lol.

Re: Bagged 1966 G van under construction
Finally working on the puzzle that is THE FLOOR!!! before the mods
After deciding to go flat with the forward section, rather than the factory angled front
I hammer formed the section around the column for an air tight seal
And the back side has an air diversion panel to help funnel air to the radiator
Got one set of hubcap clips done also

Re: Bagged 1966 G van under construction
Heinz, will your doors close with the wheel wells there or do you have to cut them? If you do cut the doors, will your windows still go all the way down? Even with the raised tubs, it looks like you still have adequate headroom height once your seats are in.

Re: Bagged 1966 G van under construction
I plan to cut the doors, have not inspected the window to see if clearance will be an issue...and with a seat in it is tight for me at 6'4" but its gonna work. I also plan to suicide the doors too. Next step is passenger front floor/battery box under front floor too. Then on to a radiator tunnel.

Re: Bagged 1966 G van under construction
the plastic radiator cap adaptor that you showed is cool
I used one in my daily driver, the heat of the water going through
the upper hose distorted the shape of it and it started leaking, had to
get an aluminum one from speedway motors. cured that issue.
