All brake cylinders are rebuilt and installed. Now I'm stuck with the shoes and springs etc. I am unable to put them back together. Is there a step by step video or even a thread on here?

Re: Re installing brakes
thank you guys for the info. i have found out that the kit i bought didn't have the right size parts in it.The adjuster cable was too short and was leading me to think i was doing something wrong. i will be picking up the correct size cables tomorrow to finish up the front. as for the rear, where does the emergency brake come into play

Re: Re installing brakes
I've included a few pictures of the brake area found in my service manual if it would be of additional help. They do not have a picture of the emergency brake cable bracket that is behind the axle/hub but you can see the "C" clip on the surface of the shoe around the pin. You can also see the emergency brake cross bracket that pushes the other shoe out when the emergency brake is pulled, it does have the oval spring around the forked end that goes around the shoe. BTW, you can click the picture to see the full size of the photo. If you do not have a service manual it would be worth the time/money to locate one.

Re: Re installing brakes
Thanks guys for all the info and help! I got done the front two. Now I'm just missing the rear springs. Does anybody have a link for the rear brake parts. I need the brake shoe springs. Top two and the bottom one.

Re: Re installing brakes
now that i have finally ordered the right parts today i picked up the springs and anchor shoe plate. the right rear was halfway assembled so it didn't take but 5 minutes to get the springs and stuff on. when i went to put the shoes on the left rear, one of the cylinder piston was stuck. it wouldn't go in. so i unbolted it and took it apart and put it back together. re-install the cylinder and as soon as i get it bolted i see it has gotten stuck again. so i take it off. tear it apart and pop the piston out. third times the charm. i re-install and make sure the piston doesn't get stuck again. took me a bit longer this time but finally got the brakes done. All i need left on the brakes is one piece of hose replacement and to bleed the brakes. (yes i bench bled the master). heres some pics of the install.
let me know what you guys think

Re: Re installing brakes
Something else I would fix , are those 4 tabs on the backing plate where the shoes slide against. build them up with a bit of weld then grind them smooth. Mine were bad as well and after smoothing them out I had no more spring noise from shoes binding when the brake pedal is released after stopping.

Re: Re installing brakes
Yeah I saw that they were a little worn. They look a lot worse than they actually are because I applied a little bit of grease on each spot. They aren't too bad but I will be doing something about them in the future. Thanks for the info!

Re: Re installing brakes
A FSM is a very valuable tool to have, or even a "Motor Manual" like these is good from general knowledge and is loaded with info. Good Luck

Re: Re installing brakes
You are still missing the adjusting section at the bottom.
See the manual pics and the Star Adjusting Wheel.
Make sure when this is installed that is on the correct side!
They are different!
When it's in and the spring across the top is clear of the wheel, tug on the adjuster cable outward toward the brake shoe.
The flat section of the adjusting lever should engage the star and move it up in the direction that opens or expands the adjuster. If it makes it shorter, you need to swap sides.
