Building a belly pan. Empty Building a belly pan.

When I bought my pickup the belly pan was missing. The side panels are there. Any pointers on building a homemade belly pan ? I'm sure that I'm not the first to have to do this.

Do you know what the original looks like? It is only a flat plate with grooved reinfocements. I modified mine from stock piece by making it sit lower and closer to the ground about 4 inches. This way I could mount a taller radiator and fit the intercooler and also get more air through the cooling elements and to the engine bay. It acts as a scoop below the front bumper and roll pan. The belly pan bolts to the side plates as original and in the front corners it bolts to the original roll pan bolt holes. Works really good.

My A108 had the same belly pan missing, but the side panels in place, so i mocked one up out of cardboard and then fabricated mine out of plywood and painted it. I also added a little air foil/ramp that I fabricated out of some thin stainless steel sheet metal I had laying around and bolted that to top side just in front of the radiator location to try and help direct more air up into the engine cavity through the radiator. My van is not a daily driver and I don't really have to worry about to much moisture where I live so plywood was the easiest thing for me to fabricate out of and will be fine for my application. If I lived in a wetter environment or if it was my daily driver I think I would have wanted to find someone who could fabricate it out of metal for me to alleviate any moisture / swelling issues that may arise.

If you are going to make your own install a scoop in the middle on a angle to help get more air to the dog house..
