Single Barrel to Holley Double Barrel Help

So on my 66' 250ci 4.1L I want to switch my stock single barrel carb over to a double barrel. I bought the Holley Model 2300 350cfm. I have the adapter plate as well. Problem being is that the Holley is too wide either way I turn it for my doghouse. I really don't want to cut my doghouse to make it fit. Did I get the wrong Holley? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
