    Hey all,
I've posted a very small bit here and there, but don't think I've officially stepped into the ring.
    So here 'tis:new beast -- '69 G20 Dsc00010
Bought this '69 G20 off craigslist, had it shipped from El Paso.  It fires up and runs pretty good, although there is a little stutter at cruising speed that I'm hoping a tune-up and carb rebuild will smooth out.
Its got a 108" wheelbase (think all G20s did) and a 12 bolt rear end.  Just been putzing around town, which is great, and havent gotten it out on the highway, so I'm not sure how the gearing is.  Think they were all at the higher end, 3.93 or 4.11.
All I've done to it so far is fab a simple seat bracket and toss in some junkyard GMC seats; will be super busy until around Xmas time, and then the fun will begin in earnest.
I have a little question in the meantime tho...
The windshield seal has been replaced recently, and there looks to be almost no rust underneath it.  Yet every morning, I find a pool of water on the inside below the glass, from the condensation on the window outside.  It looks like it comes out from two spots that are equidistant from each side, about 3 inches from each side of the windshield.  This morning, I found a wet spot on the pavement, where I think that water is dripping down inside the nose of the van and out the bottom.
Dumb question I know, but this isn't supposed to happen, right?  This isn't some space-age  Chevy technology that allows this draining?

Ive owned tons of ancient cars, including a bunch of VW busses, but this my first real Van.
Thanks a lot guys.  I'll take some better photos in a day or two and post them up.
    Great Forum!

Well,,,,,,leaking inside a van is normal,,,,,,but not right,,,,,maybe pull the glove box out and dash and see where it is leaking,,,,,,however,,,,,if you pulled up the windshield gasket high enough, you will see rust holes,,,,,,when you pull the rear end cover to change the oil,,,check the writing on the ring gear    11-41 is a 3:73,,,,,,,9-37 is a 4:11

Now if the water seems to be dripping down inside from the sides onto the top of the dash,,,,I would say the sides and top of the gasket need to be sealed between the gasket and body,,,,,,slowly run a hose on the outside on each side,,,then on the top gasket, see if water gets inside,,,,

Many glass companies 9new installers) dont know that the rubber sealed glass windshields -MUST!!- have a liquid rubber sealant = squirted in the seal area -outside area between the glass & that rubber seal!!- The stuff is made by 3M & its not cheap too = yet that will stop all & any water from ever coming in thru that new seal area!! Nice van= wish i was near you too as i do love an old place there called = "Ralph & kakoo's"!! ever been??cheers

There is a manual or service bulletin I have seen that shows where the windshield should have sealant applied.

    Nice solid van, have fun!
