I've got one of the 'cheap' ones, had it for many years. I like it and it's been very useful. I'd suggest checking out garagejournal's forums for a LOT more feedback.

I have a Direct Lift brand, 8000 lb, two post overhead model. I use it a lot, and have had it for 6 years now. There are many schools of thought on lifts, and many types. This one seems to work best for me.

Check out gregsmithequipment.com I have a 12,000 atlas two post best tool I ever bought. My buddy has one of there 9000 atlas and uses it everyday. I looked at a lot of lifts and there's for the money was the best for me . Just remember if you need a 5000lb lift buy a 7000lb lift you will thank your self later. Please stay away from the cheap 4 post(storage lifts) there is alot of scary cheap lifts out there
