I bought the VR733 from Autozone,(19.99) along with the 249 connector for it. You should check and make sure you have an alternator with 2 field connections on it. I connected the blue wire from the van, to the green wire on the connector, and the green wire from the van to the blue wire on the connector for it to work, the brown wire is the ground on mine, make sure it is grounded really well.

If you are going to mess with the alternater i'd use the 2 field mopar ones for the easy swap with the 70/or newer regulater, but I would not go higher than 75 amps , but i'd try to stay with 60 amps if you can. unless your going to swap out the harness. This is one of those biger is not better with out a newer harness.

Not necessarily, some have a screw grounding one of the fields to the case itself. I was pretty happy to see that mine had already had a newer two field one installed.

i'll run out to the garage and check the van, if it has two field wires on the back of the alt. then i'm ok to change the reg. like you did ?

if i have a one wire field and the other wire to ground then i'll need to get a 70 or newer alt. that has 2 fields on the back, and run a wire up to the new reg. is this correct, ?

Tom did you have to run a wire from the extra field on the back of your alt. to the new reg. ?

Mine was already wired up for a two field alt. One of the field wires goes to the positive side of the ballast resistor, the original goes to the regulator.

Have had the van out for the past couple days. I have to say the disc brake conversion is the best upgrade made to it so far. Stops really nice now.

What did you end up dong to get the tank clean inside to prep for sealer? I have the black tar that I can scrape out but yet won't come out with fresh gas or cleaners.
