    hey guys,

i've been driving my van alot lately, i found deferential noisy, and van vibrat alot under aceleration and climbing,( my trunnion is new), i was planning to change ring and pinion one day but could it be something else, i got 235/75/r15 all around, its only under acceleration at some rpm, its still noisy at slow speed when you release the gas pedal, you know that wining noise, just asking so i'll put it in my "to do now list "...thanks for any inputs...corrosive

drive it & see if it does the same symptom when its in neutral ?? Same thing?/
Id look into the trans rear area where tailshaft is- where yoke slips in to tranny - see if any slop or movement to sides / up down?? There is a wear sleve in that area & will cause that symptom as described- easy to R&R it too.

ok i could'nt wait so went right away,

after half hour ride, the noise is only in first gear, and when put in neutral(push the clutch down) not really neutral though, the noise change slightly less,... noisy in decelaration too, its hard to know where its coming from,

and when put in seconde no noise, and when push clutch down, again no noise coming from diferential, also no noise in third coming fron the deferential,

but under stronger acceleration, and climbing a hill, there's always that vibration, around 1500/2000rpm,

i will check that loose in the tranny yoke tomorrow,if any.

is it possible that it would be normal noise??? ,(after driving my wife new car, it sound like something is loose or broken)

by the way tranny is a-745 and deferential 3.55

    thanks ...corrosive

    vibration under acceleration Empty Noise

My 67 with a three speed on the tree does the same thing when in first or reverse. It is a fairly loud whining noise when it is under deceleration. I attribute this to it not being a "synchronized" transmission in these gears. Cannot help with the vibration you are feeling, mine doesn't do that.

Mine is quite loud as well, I agree, straight gears sounds like an old M22 rock crusher transmission. LOL

You can try to listen for noise with the doghouse open or chock the truck, raise the rear end onto jack stands and put it in gear. crawl around the outside of truck to see if you can pin down where the noise is comming from. Possibilities include bad bearing in trans or worn input bearing in flywheel. Good luck, and let us know whayt you find, Dan
