Hey guys happy to be here. I live near Lincoln Nebraska and have been looking for an early Econoline for a while now. I just brought home a super nice 1962 pickup with 52k miles. I plan on swapping in a v8 and 9inch. Not sure what trans yet. I've already learned some great tips in the 1/2 hour I have lurked on this site.

Welcome 12 speed, I have a stock 67 PU and a 66 Falcon econo w/a 289 3sp manual. I put the 289 in but kinda hard to remember. I like daily drivers now, Nothing like stock.

    Welcome!
I don't have any experience on the Fords, but have read that the 64-back ones require a bit more work for a V8 swap. I'm sure the guys here can steer you right to get 'er done!

Rod, I wanted to break him in slowly, pre 65 is alot of work and $ if done right. 65+ with a 240 is the best starting point. I can't wright as long as Vic.

looking underneath I will probably build a subframe that stiffens up the chassis and mount the engine and trans to that with crossmembers. It will be a 302 based engine(347) and either an auto or a toploader 4 speed. If I go with a toploader, I am hoping to be able to reengineer the column shift and linkage to be stronger and have shorter throws. I would like to use the existing 3 speed column and then have a separate lever on the floor for reverse.(Reverse becomes first gear)

Most likely for the rearend I will narrow a 9 inch so I can fit a decent sized tire under the back without jacking it up. Ideally I would like to put a quick change rearend in it, but I may not have the $ to get one of them.

This will be a winter project, I will post everything I do on here. I am sure we will run into some problems, but that is what makes it fun!
